He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. – 1 John 4:8
It is actually more than just a story, I should rephrase that to say it is as much a REALITY as the account you just read.
It started long ago before the man experienced the first breath of life. Before the he ever opened his eyes to the vibrant colors of the world around him.
It started with, “In the beginning God”.
You see, since before time began God has always existed. Some would argue or contest this but it is penned for us in the very first words in Scripture in Genesis 1:1 where we see that God was already there, “in the beginning”.
God, as Creator, already had a plan in place for His creation. He created man in His own image all the while knowing that we would turn our back on Him because He also allowed man to have a free will.
Since God is Creator and we are created in His image, we can then understand how He is Himself the author of love as this desire to love and be loved was implanted into the heart and soul of the human race.
God also desired to have a very close and personal relationship with each and every one of His creation and so He instilled in us a desire to seek Him.
Man’s choice to sin brought a curse upon God’s perfect creation and separated us from God. The wages (payment) of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and with death comes ETERNAL separation from God and a permanent dwelling place in the Lake of Fire.
Now you might be thinking, “I thought God loves us?” If this were the case, why would he allow this to happen? This goes back to the fact of a free will that God has given us. He loved us so much He will not control us but allows us to freely choose to love Him back, or not to if we so choose.
Because of Adam, sin entered the world, and because we are all his decedents, we are all born with that sin nature that has been passed down throughout the ages.
That means me, anyone reading this and everyone else in this world is by nature a sinner.
God never intended for us to go to Hell or the Lake of Fire but because He is holy and just, He cannot allow sin in His presence.
But just as all may seem to be hopeless and the story may seem dark there is a great truth that if you can come to realize and believe, your life can be changed forever.
You see, God being the Author and Creator of love has a love for His creation greater than we can understand. Romans 5:8 says that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!”
You read that right, even though you and I have sinned and have turned our back on God, He still loves us and cares for us and wants to restore that relationship that He once had with Adam.
Just as in our justice system today, a man who commits a crime must pay for it according to the law, in God’s justice system, the payment for sin is death. The only way that one can escape the payment for a crime is if someone else willingly steps in and pays that debt on your behalf.
This is what Christ did on the cross! God the Father sent Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Ghost a virgin was found with child. This was impossible miracle that only an all-knowing, all-holy, triune God could make possible.
And to think, He did it all because of LOVE and His desire to once again have a personal relationship with us!
He came to this earth, lived a perfect life, all the while facing everything you and I could face, but never once committing any sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Because He was sinless, He was eligible to be the sacrifice that could pay for the sins of the entire world. And He did when He laid down His life willingly on the cross.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. – 1 John 2:2 (KJV)
But the story does not end there.
Death could not hold Him and on the third day He rose again conquering death and allowing us to be able to live with Him in eternity.
But you must make a choice.
The sweetest love story in the world could never come close to the love that was expressed by God the Creator of the Universe.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16 (KJV)
He will in no way force you to accept this reality, but if you desire to experience His love and the joy and peace that can only come with a relationship with Him, then you must make a choice.
You must believe on Him, and trust in the precious blood of Christ that was shed to wash away your sin.
When you see yourself as a sinner and believe on Christ as your Savior your life will be changed as you in Faith turn from your sin and trust in CHRIST ALONE. At this moment, you will be BORN AGAIN!
Both Jonathan and Faith have experienced this salvation and because of it this they are able to experience a much deeper love for the Lord and each other that nothing in the world can ever offer.
It is our desire that you too would experience this LIFE CHANGING LOVE and the peace and joy that comes with having your sins forgiven and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
If you haven’t, we plead with you, make the choice to trust in CHRIST today!
